Artist Hannah Weinberger (b. 1988) has designed and produced her first major book project for which she has specifically created a new body of film stills, based on her own moving images. Her work addresses the transition from moving picture to still image in conjunction with the role of narration and the handling of linearity within a sequence of changing standpoints and views. Weinberger explores the potential of that stubborn relationship in its resemblance to memory and the translinear kinship with time. She also inquires into how we see ourselves and what we tell ourselves, ergo, how narration works.

Hannah Weinberger was awarded the prize of the Dr. Georg and Josi Guggenheim Foundation in 2016, which includes the production of a publication. The publication is an in-depth picture book and provides an insight into the artist’s work in the field of video. The film stills that she has selected from her videos tell, or hint at, one or many short stories.
