Behind the Brain

“Behind the Brain” presents the latest chapter in Tcherepnin’s ongoing saga of monsters living between worlds. Here we meet two new charac- ters, Dr. Time and Pinky Spirit, standing amidst artworks from their own domain. Theirs is a place defined by simulacra, where objects constel- late in holistic arrangements. Paintings by monsters and their portraits by humans juxtaposed gesture and ways of seeing provide us a glimpse of an alternate universe, offering a slice of their optical and cognitive register.

Behind the brain, the third eye watches images plastered on an ossien wall. Cros- sing over the border we find ourselves to be visitors, guests in the realm of the monsters. Ambassadors from earth.
