A room of her own

PEANA is thrilled to present ‘a room of her own’, an exhibition with works by Lukas Gschwandtner and Louis Eisner.

Through this exhibition Gschwandtner seeks to recreate, site-specifically, an entire room with what he calls “canvas fossils”. Gschwandtner’s presentation is a personal reinterpretation of Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky’s bed sitting room designed for Frau C. Neubacher in Vienna in the year 1925 where he investigates the body language that objects and furniture suggest in a space and how this is interrupted and repurposed according to placement and use. Also integral to the exhibition, the work of Louis Eisner, which includes a bronze bust and a series of paintings that add symbolism and create a certain sense of familiarity; prompting the visitor’s imagination to question the story of the space itself.
